Music of 2011

2011 hasn't been that bad a year for music, here are the stand out tracks...

I make mention of Selena Gomez, Justin bieber, Lady Gaga and Rhianna on a later date...

--------

Calvin Harris ft Kelis - Bounce

The epitome of a Good Night out, this was a great dance floor song.

--------

Gotye - Somebody that I use to know

Raw, Powerful and Emotional, Gotye's music stills evolves yet remains hauntingly beautiful through each of its evolutions. His latest album won every damn award in Australia for good reason. It's a Masterpiece.

--------

Architecture In Helsinki - Contact High

Quite simply one of the most infectious choruses I've ever heard. This song will dig into you Soul and skip around in your head for days.

--------

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem

I swear this song just took over at one stage, You couldn't leave the damn house without hearing this somewhere in the background. Whether it be the Car Radio, On Someone's iPod Headphones or people just humming it. This Song was EVERYWHERE!

--------

Bag Raiders - Sunlight

Just a Great Dance Tune from this talented Sydney Duo, I remember many nights just setting the dance floor ablaze to this song.

--------

Kanye West & Jay-Z ft La Roux - That's my Bitch

Kanye West, Jay-Z and La Roux, Sounds like a Black Hipster's Wet Dream.

--------

Miami Horror - Holidays

One of those Summer Driving Songs, You have this playing as loud as possible while you nod you head wearing your ridiculously designed sunglasses while taking dumb social network pictures.

--------

Metronomy - The Look

Minimalism in Music... This song is Truly Wonderful in a simple way. Also the Bass Player is Awesome as Shit, That dude looks like he gives such zero f*@$ at the moment.

--------

Childish Gambino - Freaks and Geeks

Donald Glover.... One of the most talented people on the Earth, He's taking over. In 5 Years he'll be either be a leading man in movies, a mega huge rap star or Dead.

--------

Cobra Starship (Ft Sabi)- You Make Me Feel

I dunno... It's just a fun song... Leave me Alone

========

EXPECT THIS TO GET EDITED A LOT DURING THE NEXT MONTH

You're Tearing Me Apart Lisa (Miller)

Touched up the Original Black and White Picture, added some colour and shading.... Turned out nicely. Wasn't very complicated but it looks great to me.

Wiki-Aid

Donate to Wikipedia

I can't imagine an internet without Wikiedpia. Its just everything you wanted to know and more is one simple search away. You can hit random article and you'll be taken to an article about some random historical figure, invention or country you would've never heard of and be given a detailed out line of what or where it is and its cultural and/or historical significance and anything else you didn't need to know.

Its a well of knowledge. Yet people look down upon wikipedia because its free to edit and anyone can edit it. WELL F#&* YOU! It's like a public encyclopedia written by everything and moderated by everyone. Its a modern marvel and should be supported. It has simplifed the way people acquire information and donating to such a thing just seem right to me.

Hell I'm going to donate to Wikipedia... So why don't you?

The Dark Side of the Rainbow

So...

I watched it the other night, the infamous Wizard of Oz Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon sync up. Its quite amazing at times how these two seperate works sync up perfectly. Some of the tracks like Breathe, Time and Money sync up just too well to be a coincedence.

My favourite sync up moment has to either come from "Brain Damage" with the Scarecrow Dance or Speak to Me / Breathe with the Robot dance.

Gin Nightmare

So it was my friend's 23rd birthday last night, he didn't really feel like gaving a big celebration. Just wanted a small get together at his house. I brought a bottle of Gin and 3 bottles of Ginger Ale to make my favourite mixed drink, A Gin with Ginger Ale.

I'm not sure what kind of fancy / manly name I should give that name. We settled with GG which is short for 'Good Game' in the online gaming community. That and Ginger Ale masks the taste of Gin quite well. Either way I got stupid amount of drunk as I just kept downing one glass after another. In the space of 2 to 3 hours I have consumed the entire Gin bottle and was out of my mind drunk. Not make a scene and fight everyone drunk. I was holding it all together pretty well all things considering. I do think I did throw up a few times, I can't remember but I do remember the ungodly Hang over I felt this morning.

GRANTED... It wasn't the worse Hang over I'm ever gotten but there really isn't a good way to drink a Bottle of Gin and not feel like garbage the next day. Even though it was a quiet get together and nothing much happened I still had a great time giving myself alcohol poisoning so I'll be sure to do it all again soon.

$800 an Hour....

So I was informed by a lady of the night (An Escourt) that she charges $800 an hour for her services...

The idea of buying somebody's body for $800 just seems to... ridiculous to me.

How could you possibly get $800 worth of anything out of a woman in an hour? I MEAN WHAT COULD SHE POSSIBLY DO THAT IS WORTH $800... AN HOUR!?!

DOES SHE HAVE LIKE 3 TONGIES?!!

Anyway in other less important stories, WWE '12 came out, It's okay, it's not as good as past WWE Titles. I've literally played all of them and still think Here Comes the Pain is the best version but then again it is evolving in some nice directions. 2008 and 2006 were stand outs too, if only you could use the best parts of each game.

I'm going to have to revisit them all now but I really like this feature of making new stories.

The Perfect Party

"The Perfect Party. It's an illusive Idea. People are to be entertained from the moment they walk in to the moment they Leave. An Experiment. And I am a Scientist... Welcome to my Labratory"

===========

On a recent episode of Parks and Recreation, another excellent NBC Comedy sitcom. The Character Tom throws what he hopes is... The Perfect Party. Now if I was to throw a Perfect Party and Expenses wasn't an option. I'd...

Find an Abandoned Warehouse, like you see in all those Hipster commercials about Foriegn Spirits. (Apparently You can find and party in Abandoned Warehouses Everywhere. (Okay I don't know because I haven't gone looking). But one of those. Then... A sweet Fog machine, Some sweet fucking disco lights, Neon Dance Floor, Animated Disney Movies projected on all the Walls, alcohol, cigarettes, an assortment of party drugs, fireworks, strippers, tigers, a cage fight, a bikini mud jelly ladies wrestling match in a pool, a food fight and if there is time a quick game of Laser Tag.

Actually that's pretty tamed come to think of it...

If I could plan the perfect party it honestly would be the most ellaborate party and would require multiple days of planning and scheming, but my current "Perfect Party" seems suit able for a budget under I dunno $5,000 minus the Tiger.

That's just unacceptable.

The House of Cards

An amazingly sublime and moving Radiohead track... Has nothing to do with this post.

As part of my Becoming the God of War Kratos fitness regreme I have going. I did the old House of Cards Workout routine last night.

For those that are unfamilur, the House of Cards workout is simple. You get a standard dack of cards and each suit you assign a simple wrkout like push-ups, sit-ups, etc. etc. So whatever card you draw is how many you do of the assigned workout. Last night I did this.

Hearts = Normal Push-Ups
Spades = Squats
Clubs = Leg Lift Crunches
Diamonds = Hindu Push-Ups (I think that's what they call that)

Had the Bastion Soundtrack blasting in the background while I worked out. I was already pretty exhausted after 15 minutes so I'm probably going to do this workout every other day. Tonight I'm using the Perfect Push-Up. I also need to go for a Run... like badly, I keep putting it off. Ugh need to get more motivated to run.

I'm seriously going to have to buy a ticket now.

A nice digital art piece...

Two of my favourite artists are headlining the Australia Big Day Out Tour, Kanye West and Kasabian, amoung a handfull of other acts I'm really interested in seeing. Like Noel Gallagher post Oasis.

Kanye West makes Amazing Music. Beautifully crafted hip hop tracks that genre sample with amazing expertise. Tracks like Power and Rnaway are just Masterpieces of Rap and sampling. Man is a dreaking Genius... He's an Asshole... BUT HE'S A GENIUS!

Kasabian make awesome music. Just fucking awesome music. It just sounds good. Like I'm listening to some form of mystical hipster rock and roll that was the soulchild of making a modern version of the Beatles... But more Awesome.

For Zoidberg

IF I had to pick one song from 2011 that stood out for me it would either be one of these 3 songs.

Miami Horror "Holidays", Bag Raiders "Sunlight" or that infectous Party Anthem "Party Rock" by LMFAO. I swear that song was as bad as AIDS at one point, It was god damn everywhere. You could've leave youe house with out at least 4 people playing it loudly through their car stereo or hand phones or just fucking singing it out loud.

Either way, I really liked the clip for "Holidays"

And that'll be it for today with the blog...

I'm working on a Scott Pilgrim Wallpaper and I'm going to continue to work out for the sole selfish purpose of looking like the God of War to go to a con to show off like the big show off that I am... And to hopefully pick up a cute 17 year old nerdy chinese girlfriend.

Then drop her for a American Hipster Girl that plays mysterious and hard to get.

Although... There is a good chance I'll run into someone cosplaying as Ramona.

The Supernova convention in Feburary seems like the good deadline for me. I should really get around to taking a shirtless pictures of myself. (I know right, how rude of me). How am I suppose to catalogue my transformation without photo evidence?

Pffft... First World Problem

Sunday, November 20

Knives? Ramona? Knives? Ramona?

The dialogue remixes they have of Scott Pilgim is what I would consider a form of high art. Music sampled over using dialogue lines from the movie is brilliant.

"Did you see a Future together with this girl?"
"like.... with Jetpacks"

Perfect

A cold distant and mysterious person... So alluring.

Meet Everyone... Also Hey

What? As if you don't love this movie as much as me...

Becoming the God of War (Update 1)

Well I'm started at about 74kg. So no real notice to weight loss or gain yet.

So after about 4 days in, I'm still feeling a little stiff but my body does seem to be toning up a little more. At least I notice I'm getting a slightly bigger Chest anyway.

God I hope I'm like Chris Leben when I'm 30, Awesome

Day 4:

My Upper body is exhausted from Yesterday. I worked out like a possessed movie protagonist living in a montage all day yesterday. I lifted weights with my Friends. I went swimming; I did about 100 Push Ups at home on this Perfect Push-Up and did tricep Lifts on the couch while watching UFC PPVs which just motivated me into doing more Push Ups. It’s a self perpetuating cycle of Narcissism.

I've been drinking like 3 Litres of Water a Day and getting at least 8 hours of Sleep a day. The Dieting will probably be the hardest part of becoming Kratos. 3 Square Meals a Day seems hard to do when I'm so use to eating nothing. Yes this is such a first world problem; I'm having trouble eating readily available food because I'm not hungry. How dare I have that Problem!

Although I don't think my arms have quite 100% recovered I think I'll start off the day with 100 Perfect Push-Ups.... Spaced Out.... Over a 30 Minute Period.... While I watch more UFC PPVs.

God Damn Hugh Jackman

Why don't we just make Hugh Jackman the Ruling Emporer of Australia?

I swear to God the man does everything. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy, he's a great Dad, great Actor, great Singer, great Dancer.

I fucking hate that Guy!

No one man should have all that power talent!

Although I would love to see who would win in a Fist Fight between Hugh Jackman and Chris Hensworth. Who you got? Wolverine or Thor?

I'd pay good money to see that match up!

Hell throw in Eric Bana and we could have an All Aussie Three Way with Wolverine, Thor and the Hulk.

Just one of those Great UFC moments.

Say what you will about UFC and Mixed Martial Arts, the whole idea of man testing himself against another man seems completely reasonable to have in society. We have contests of all kinds of "games" that have been engrained into our global society like football (soccer) but the art of fighting will always live on.

You can't tell me stuff like this isn't completely amazing?

Please let me keep this Memory...

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is in my eyes a Perfect Movie.

I love everything about it, The Script, The Characters, The Music, The Story and the why it was all Filmed and Edited together. It's a Masterpiece.

One Day I hope to write a story or make a movie half as good as it.

In a League of its Own

Now I don't even watch NFL but I love the show the League, it's about a Fantasy Football Group that just finds new ways to screw with each other every week while trying to win the convented Shiva Bowl Trophy. It seems to be one of the top priorities in each of their lives... Except for Taco who is basically Homeless and played by my favourite internet comedian, Jon Lajoie.

While Fantasy Football and winning at all costs seems to be the driving plot of the show, it has its great moments in between the scheming and backstabbing. Its not for everyome but if you like Always Sunny, You'll like The League.

This is what Jon Lajoie did before The League... He's pretty damn talented

Becoming the God of War

Being a Narcisist I love to dress up in costumes... and which costume would be easily to pull off when you're a skinny disgustingly white male? None other than the God of War, Kratos. Yep, I'm banking on the lasting appeal of Spartan God of War to be an awesome costume choice... If I can pull off the ridiculously Muscled Up Body.

So Today I bought the Perfect Push-Up...

Day 1:
I hope to look like the God of War by the time the next Nerd Convention rolls around, I think the next one in Sydney is in Feburary. So that gives me ample time to go from looking like a Toned Manorexic Model into a Spartan / Gym Equipment Demo Model.

This is going to go Well...

I'll blog about my progress depending on how my fitness motivation lasts. I also need to acquire more weights and a digial camera.

Here is now a ridiculous Dragoncon Video that trys at adapting it into a weird hide and seek story. Either way. I need to go to that fucking nerd party.

Who said you were an Individual?

http://faceobok.tumblr.com/

You: I have strange and unqiue thoughts and ideas that can't be labelled
Facebook: Don't worry about that... You're no longer an Individual as fair as we're concerned.

It's Good to See You

When your actual presence brightens up a person's demeanor and mood its a real ego boost.

How people greet you is very important in social interactions. We're it be a wave, a smile, a polite hello or a Hug. It’s a good feeling when you are welcomed with kindness and warmth. Or if you're greeted with hostility and anger you can expect like a smirk or glare but most people try to avoid those kinds of social situations.

On the odd occasion your appearance can spark elation and joy, I experience that reaction so rarely but when it does happen it’s such a great feeling. It’s just nice to feel appreciated and welcomed, Its awesome to think that your single existence makes another person genuinely happy. It's a Wonderful Feeling being appreciated on that level.

Now I have a friend I see on the odd occasion, he has a pretty boring and routine life (Like most people in the World). But the other day when I walked into his House his mood completely swung. He was joyous, ecstatic and animated, he was genuinely happy to see me. I felt great! I think that is one of the definitions of "Love" is, which is a very sensitive word to just throw around but it does remind me of the behaviour you see in pet Dogs.

I love Dogs, way better than Cats. Dogs are loyal creatures and once you've earned their trust and love, they'll love you forever. No Matter What! They’ll always scamper up to you when you open your door as you return home. Greet you with a wide open mouth smile with their tongue hanging out and a erratically wagging tail that seems to be controlling it's whole hind quarters with its rhythmic swinging. Dogs are just happy to see you... Unconditional Love.

I don't know about you... But it's a pretty great feeling.

Some Old Digital Art

Here are some old pieces I made ages ago in Photoshop for forum signature use and what have you...

Monday, November 7

Lisa Miller.... The Lost Girl

So I'm still a 22 year old Slacker finding his way in the World, I have few marketable skills and my friends are pretty much in the same sort of boat. Stuck in their Twenties as the rest of the World somehwat looks down upon us in a weird way because of how we squnader our youth on such trivial things like Social Networking sites... and other young people bullshit.

So I'm re-reading the Scott Pilgrim comic books for the Third Time and just got up to Volume 4 which is my favourite of the 6 Volume series. It has one of the most heartbreaking character reappearences in it. The forgotten character of Lisa Miller (who wasn't even in the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie). Lisa is Scott's first High School friend and got him interested in music in the first place. Scott remeets her after many years to find out she is a talented actress and of course she asks Scott the obvious question, "How come we never went out in High School?"

What persues is a mess of feelings and emotions that have boiled over since High School. It's just a really great volume about looking back at your Teenage years in your Twenties and asking "What If", which of course is something I do to this day and will probably do for quite a few years to come.

There is just something special about the Scott Pilgrim series, i don't know what it is or how it even manages to capture my imagination as it does but I just love re-reading the books. The most honest portrayal of a 20 something guy I've ever read and seen in comics and just in general.

It helps when I can think of my Lisa Miller like person in my life and wonder what could've been. (I'm pretty sure she's better off without me now come to think of it) Then again I also wonder if I'll ever be apart of a League of Evil Ex Boyfriends. (Which I would totally do)

Anyway before the Movie came out Adult Swim animated a Scott Pilgrim short based from a section from 'Volume 2: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World', it has the High School backstory involving Kim Pine and Lisa Miller and it's pretty great.

Persona 4 the Animation

I love it, love it to pieces. Its all in Japanese and Subtitled and ripped onto the Internet every Friday and translated. I LOVE THE FAN BASE OF THIS GAME!

People go out of their way to help the English Speaking Community of Persona 4. Awesome. I'm hoping to have whatever console I need for the next Persona game. (I think it's a hand heild which sucks)

I played the crap out of Persona 4 on PS2. Here is some Digital distortion artwork, I didn't really do much to this picture, just boosted the overlay, sharpened the flowers and mosiaced the background.

Some Bastion Digital Art (Distortion)

Just made the cut of the Kid Pop a bit more than the original

Must Learn Guitar...

Just because of the Rango Soundtrack and I guess some influence on the fact that I've been watching a lot of Good Westerns lately and playing Fallout New Vegas. What do they all have in common? A swagger inducing acoustic guitar driven theme that just screams wide open spaces and a rare sense of freedom. It just seems like music for travellers, wandering souls that travel from place to place in search of something. Whether it be something they lost or something they never had... They're looking for it.

Plus it would be nice to have a musical talent, who knows how useful that could be in the future.

Oh Wonderful Zooey

Zooey Deschanel is Wonderful!

She is the Indie Queen, Hipster Godess, Uber Talented Seductress, Zooey Deschanel!

Its literally unfair that someone that quirky and wonderful exists and is just paraded around in front of everyone like some unobtainable girlfriend. She Honestly is someone you want to just Date, the kind of girl that you just want to have as a Girlfriend.

You've seen her in that movie 500 Days of Summer where she played the title character. The Wonderful girl next door type of Woman, the one that just makes you feel free. She was the same Wonderful Girl in Yes Man that brought the cyical character that Jim Carey played out of his shell. She was also in the Happening... But that movie was a piece of shit.

If you actually watch 500 Days of Summer and somehow ignore all of Zooey's wonderful charm you quickly realise how much of a Cunt that woman was. But because it was played by Zooey Deschanel, you don't feel as cheated. Because she's Wonderful!... But seriously what her character did in that movie was such a bitch move.

Besides being a wonderful actress (Well mediocre at best) She's also in a Band called She & Him with the talented Musician M. Ward. Seriously how someone is so cute and talented exists and is 31 but could pass for any super indie nerd girl you might know if you're lucky.

What can you other than, she's Wonderful!

Looking Back on Things and Why... "Heroes"

Remember MySpace? Well I remember I use to be able to just put up little arty photos instead of a wall of text and I put those 5 "People" as my Heroes. Dear Lord that's embarassing, some of these selections anyway...

Art Alexakis
Everclear, Holy shit did I love Everclear. They're my favourite Band of all Time and I'll never be able to see them in my stupid country. Back in 1992 when they were riding their global fame around the World and they had the Worst Crowd ever in Queensland where the Band almost broke up for good because they were such assholes. Anyway I loved their music, their sound and how they'd teach little life lessons in a cheery way.

They're like a bunch of happy German performance artists that teach children life's dark secrets.

Anyway Art was the Dude that wrote and sang the music so yeah, he was the one to look up to. A honest musician with great personal stories within his music. Honestly I probably would've meet my wife at an Everclear concert, lord knows I would've gone to every one by now if they had ever come back to Australia. Oh well... You've taken this away from my Queensland.... I hate you.

I guess that's why I loved that movie Loser from the 90s and why I feel in love with Mena Suvari... She was an Everclear Girl... and she was also Mena Suvari.

========================================

Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins

Now these guys have Amazing Careers, they're two Web Comic Artists, well I think one writes it and the other one illustrates it. I'm not sure about the dynamic anymore I'm just jealous of what they accomplished. They run one of the biggest and most successful web comics on the internet and they based it on their own lives as gamers using characters that looks nothing like their real selfs.

That's Bloody Amazing to me how that works. Oh just for the record, their Webcomic is Penny Arcade if you didn't know... But you may aswell just leave for not recognising the characters alone.

========================================

Spiderman

It's Fucking Spiderman.... Spiderman is Fucking Awesome.

The normal everyday sort of teenager with normal kind of problems and the best thing, in the comics you grow alongside with him. He finished High School, went to College, Spiderman is Awesome.

>========================================

Gus Hansen

Holy shit was this guy an amazing Poker Player. Gus Hansen was a freak of fucking nature Poker Player. He played everything but he was UNREABLADE. Do you have any idea how awful it is trying to read Gus Hansen? Its near impossible to know what he could possibly have.

He's also one of those Poker Geniuses that knows the game inside out, all the math behind each an every kind of card match up. It's a very very psychological game and Gus Hansen is one of the Best.

========================================

Tim Buckley

He made CAD and I honestly thought that comic was Awesome. In hindsight it wasn't a very smart or clever comic but one thing it was, was consistant and kept to it's update schudle of 4 comics a week. Tim just kept pushing out content and people loved it.

To the Ladies in my life

Saw a Girl I know post a strange status update, decided to enter it into my iTunes Music Bar for a joke and this Song comes up on the Results Page. Old Man River - "Thinking Of You"

Now I wonder who she was thinking of, but the idea seemed rather romantic at the time so I thought about the Women in my life I like. How rather sad I know....

Ahhh Whatever...

How ever small the acquintence that I have come across and thought, "She's a Great Girl"

This is for you...

As PhillyD would say, "Love Yo Faces!" :)

Side Note: Holy Shit do I love that film clip. That Alien girl is a knockout. She has Big Eyes you say... I personally see absolutely nothing wrong with her. That's a total babe if you ask me.

I Hate Psychology Majors

I'm very wary of Psychology majors, whenever someone tells me they studied the Human Mind for 4 years at University I look at them suspiciously. I judge them like they're judging me.

You can't fucking tell me they aren't constantly judging and making observations of people 24/7. I like to study people, I have awful eyesight. Like just dogshit eyesight. But I'm happy with what little Eyesight I have and I utilize it to the very best of my abilities. But whenever someone says they study Psychology I instantly just become very weary of what I do and say around them. I like to watch my social prey, the strangest thing is I have exceptional hearing because of my shitty eyesight, so whatever facial nuances I would miss I can gather from cross chatter, I pick up certain things people say.

Then again I just love talking, I just love attention. It's so strange I just love it when people listen to me. I hate the sound of my own voice, I think my voice is shit, I have an American Accent from watching too much cartoons as a Kid. I'm still on the fence on whether it’s a blessing or a curse to have an American Accent when you're Australian. People just assume you're from another Country because I don't actually look very American. Anyway, I'm an Attention Whore and a big Narcissist. I honestly think I'm Awesome and all my ideas are great, all my jokes are funny and you know other various self absorbed attributes. (I'm also dangerously self aware of myself though) I want to be liked by everyone.

I don't need you to tell me I'm not a normal person, but when someone just comes up to me and makes some outlandish statement like "You're an Only Child" to me because of my strange behavior and just flat out jump to conclusions and sticking by them, THAT PISSES ME OFF.

Literally some girl came up to me at a Party and I was having a blast, just being my typical loud attention whorish self and then she says to me, "You're an Only Child" and I laughed and told her I have some younger siblings and quite a few stepsiblings... She didn't believe me. She thought she had me all figured out and that worried me, what do these Psych majors think me...

Then I think to myself... FUCK THEM, THEY PROBABLY HAVE IT ALL WRONG.

But now I'm listening to Audio books and radio podcasts on the Human Psyche to ensure I don't stumble upon this problem again unprepared. I wonder what would happen if I cross analyze a Psych major during conversation as he did it to me…

That honestly sounds like Dividing by Zero in a Social Situation.
