Je ne parle pas français, cependant J'aime cette chanson.
(I don't speak French, however I like this song.)
French rap is clearly more dignified and cultured than your country's rap.
Talent can transcend cultures and languages and I have never heard of Oxmo Puccino but this song of his called Artiste is smooth. Obviously it's supposed to be overtly Arty and dignified so the amount of booty shaking bikini women that dance for money and get champagne poured all over them is kept to a minimal.
Instead we get him pondering a thought of deep art while a really buff dude wearing lip gloss and covered in baby oil is just doing bicep curls next to him.
For the sake of being Arty and because it has a catchy sounding hook, those are my reasons Oxmo Puccino's "Artiste" is my song of the day.
YEAH! ART!

90s Sunday: "Rollercoaster" - B'witched
I have never seen the US version of this song before but this clearly a product from the 90s.
Then I realised.
I was a 90s kid and I loved the 90s music. It was a strange mix of electic music. You have Nirvana Teen Spirit right next to Aqua's "Barbie Girl" or Eminem's "Real Slim Shady". But what really ruled the 90s were the bands who weren't actually bands... bands.
N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, 5ive, Boyz 2 Men, Westlife, Take That, etc.
Various boy bands filled with a bunch of models that danced in sync. Don't bands play instruments?
It's not important any more.
Every Sunday I'm picking a song from the 90s.
1991 - 2000 (1 - 10)
B'witched's "Rollercoaster" is the song of the day for my first Ninties Sunday.
Well done you denim sporting irish cowgirls...

Mix of the Week: "Get 'em High for this" - Kanye West vs. Ellie G
I know I can be rather spotty with my Mixes of the week but this one is up there with "Something about the Fire" for my favourite mix of the year.
Combine an old Kanye track from his debut album about smoking weed and a Weeknd cover by talented British song bird Ellie Goulding and you have this absolutely magnetic track. Stoners and Potheads alike would bob their heads melodically along to this well composed mix.
It's just beautiful.
I'm going to have to rush this entry but Ellie's whaling harmony to Yeezy's rhymes really seem to compliment each other well. I guess both tracks were brilliant on their own and together they seem to create something truly special.
That's why "Get 'em High for this" is my Mix of the Week.

Song of the Day: "Fashion Monster" - Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
Don't you dare try and judge me, you know I have a particular infinity with the Japanese and their wonderfully strange culture. So you can forgive me when I present you a Japanese Tim Burton music video.
This is the latest offering from J-Pop Superstar Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. It's fast paced pop rock where everyone is dressed like a Extra from The Nightmare before Christmas. I mean just look at this thing like the spectacle that it is.
Lady Gaga ain't got shit on this level of Weirdness
The Weekly: Bill 'Ghost Bustin' Ass' Murray
Alright I haven't done a Weekly in FOREVER... or a month or two, whatever that and I missed yesterday's entry so I'm going to have to make this post extra long.
Anyway, This is an internet blog. I may as well show what I've found on the internet that doesn't really deserve it's own separate entry about it.

I've been a fan of the EMC Monkeys since their old Co-Founder Jonathan Phan went on the MTV show Final Fu and showcased his unique fighting style of Monkey Kung Fu Fighting and theatrics.
The new crew that have carried on the spirit that Xin and Jon started all those years ago and have been ramping up their video production with this Sleeping Dogs ispired short live action short film. It's pretty damn intense.
On a side note, I just bought Sleeping Dogs so this will probably be the last you'll hear from me for a while... The game is awesome.

Why I buy weird games
I like video games, I assumed that was obvious by now but I thought I'd reiterate this sentiment as I also share the belief that "weirdness" is essential for progress and innovation. Without gaming studios thinking outside the box we'd all be stuck with Call of Duty shooters and GTA rip offs forever. But occasionally we get those outside the box thinkers that aren't just working for a profit margain but a deeper sense of satisfaction by bringing life to something completely fresh and new.
Alright, I'll get off my sandbox.

Song of the Day: "White Dress" - Kanye West
Another entry from the Man with the Iron Fists soundtrack, this track from Kanye West seems to be a return to basics with a simple beat and sample and smooth rhymes about his future wife to be. Ms Kardasian seems to be doing some good to Yeezy (Yeah I can call him that, I'm cool enough right?)
But yes this does sound like the kind of music you would've heard on his earlier albums compared to his two latest more modern albums. 808 and Heartbreak being completely auto-tuned the entire record and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was in a sense over produced.
While this maybe a return to form for Kanye as he goes back to what made him his Millions in the first place. I'm just glad to hear a nice soulful jam from him again. Also it further convinces me that I NEED to by this Soundtrack when it comes out on October 23rd.
That's why Kanye West's "White Dress" is my song of the day.

My Favourite TF2 Machina Pieces
I've been playing a WHOLE lot of Team Fortress 2 lately. I've been trying to finish a tour on the Mann vs. Machine CO-OP mode on Expert and it's like... beating your head against a wall for hours on end trying to complete a single wave. Or it's remarkably easy depending on the skill level your team mates are on and whether you made the right choice with your weapon upgrades.
Either way, it's a tediously long wait using the server match making option and even more tedious when you fail the same wave time and time again.
Anyway, because of the upcoming 2nd annual Saxxy Awards approaching it's a good time to show my favourite TF2 machinima and fan films people have been making in honour of my current addiction.

Song of the Day: "Plumage" - Menomena
It's alright song but this music video is fantastic.
For a while music videos were a lost art form from the 80s. Back then people cared about this emerging new method of storytelling and as as an art form. Wonderfully shot and well thought out stories or ideas but played out for 3 and a half minutes that complimented the music it was representing.
Then most music channels (MTV specifically) started realising they could make more money making cheap and shallow reality television programming like the Real World and through the 90s and early 2000s music videos suffered to the point where it usually consisted of a bunch of guys standing around playing instruments, a hot girl dressed up in a fetish costume or angry black rappers flashing bling and pouring champagne on strippers.
Now thanks to Menomena they've created one of the more original music videos to come out this year. Heck this decade. (Heh that's just another year).
If I was to explain the video it would be about two men that have agreed to meet up in the desert in the afternoon for a final showdown to find out who is the ultimate badass.
Dress appropriately.

I'm currently stalking: Allie Goertz
Well not currently. Just, keeping weird tabs on a particular youtube nerd girl.
So let's look at the world of internet youtube nerd girls.
Thank you MC Chris with your Ode to the nerd girls.
I will never understand why they went with that kind of guy to be the hero in the story. I really wonder what MC Chris thought of the hero in this story. I know he's totally seen this video. The hero to your song is played by a guy with bleached tips that wears a fedora and an ascot to go out dancing with his also equally straight dance partner / best bud.
She's like the perfect day care teacher to have for a child. I would honestly trust her raising children with whimsical ukulele music and stories about sunshine and happiness.
If her career didn't take off in Hollywood Zooey Deschanel probably could've made a living being a hyper adorable quirky youtube girl.
There is something a little more honest to the simple YouTube format of a single person and a camera. No fancy editing, no lights, just raw talent.
Allie Goertz has been brought up a few times on this and my previous Blog, she's amazing. She's smart and she's a legit nerd girl as far as I can tell.
She makes Wonderful music, just Wonderful. They're cleverly written and filled with word play, she also has a heavenly voice. I'm sure all of this will be used as evidence in a restraining order in the future, but I don't care.
Recently she asked the internet for a little help to get her started on a lifelong dream I assume she and many people have had.
Thanks with the help of the internet she is now able to afford some recording studio time to help her release a new album due to the contributions from her youtube followers.

Oh Allie how I wish you best for your music career, may your beautiful nerdiness help you climb to dizzying heights and maybe one day I'll hear one of your songs on the radio.
Or maybe even on the Nerdist Podcast.

Song of the Day: "Baddest Man Alive" - The Black Keys / RZA
Listen to this song man, MAN! MAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
This is just raw animalistic swagger music. The kind of music you'd want blasting as you kicking down the door to the meanest bar in town. I guarantee there will be a scramble amongst UFC Fighters to be the first to walk out to this song.
This song is too damn good and if this whole Man with the Iron Fists movie tanks, they'll probably make a substantial amount from the STACKED Soundtrack. Hell I think I'll choose a track from the album the song of the day for the next week and bit. It's that damn good.
But you know... You should probably at least see the trailer for the aforementioned movie to know what to expect from the rest of the Soundtrack.
RZA makes his own movie then writes a kickass tune with the Black Keys, that dude is winning at life right now.

Oh, The Places you'll go
I just found out about Teddy Saunders and his wonderful film work. Creator of TedShots he has made some beautiful poetic video performances like the inspiring rendition of Dr. Seuss's "Oh, The place you'll go".
But that isn't the only poetry Ted has adapted into a multi-read rendition on the internet. Recently he created a new video about the wonders of what it is like to be a kid. An original piece created by the man himself and it really does make me wish for a world with more child like wonder and motivations. It's comforting to say the least.
Yes, I'm sure you feel sufficently whimsical about children and their wonderful fantasty worlds they live in before Life drains the innocence and fun out of them.
Anyway, Ted's working on a new project called DreamBox.
Check it out, it's pretty interesting. The idea of creating a vlog tent where people come in a tell everyone about their dreams.
Find out more at their KickStarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/teddy/the-dream-box
Song of the Day: "I'll Take You There" - Easy Access Orchestra
Portlandia is a sketch comedy show based around the City of Portland, Oregon. The first episode of Portlandia stars Jason Sudakis as a cult leader Aliki that is irresistibly charming in such a way that people seem to put under hypnotic trances of bliss whenever they talk to him.
This song is always playing when people gaze upon Aliki.
This heavenly melodic groove that sounds like a Beatles acid trip. It's just so calming its hurt not to instantly fall for Aliki.
It's next to impossible to find a place to download a high quality version of this song. It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere on iTunes under The Easy Access orchestra. Other sources have calmed that the band's name is Dust.
Either way, thanks to Portlandia I was introduced to a wonderful new song.

It starts here...
Alright.
So I've been slacking on this blog thing. I was going to tell myself I would write in it everyday. So here is a simple challenge I will now set.
I must post at least 500 words a day for the next 30 days. Let's call this a month of continuous chatter, there will be a lot of garbage and maybe an actual post worth reading once in a while.
Who knows.

Song of the Day: "Gold Dust" - DJ Fresh
I don't know about you but this song gets me amped up like a chem-fiend fixing to score some Turbo. (I've gone back to Fallout New Vegas, need to finish Old World Blues).
Show me your moves...

Song of the Day: "Skyfall" - ADELE
It came out a few days ago in a trailer and it already has 14 Million seperate views on YouTube. This is a throwback to those old grand sounding Bond themes that Shirley Bassey sang on the movies 'Diamonds are Forever' and 'Moonraker'.
Nice to have back to those old grand sounding pieces rather than the weird contemporary rock they had Jack White and Alicia keys compose last time around. If we're going back to old school Bond stories where he is just a man with a gun then a traditional approach to the theme seems sensible.
Although if interrupted incorrectly the future Bond Movies with his new space age gadgets will probably end up being dubstep.
(All the other Bond themes to date)
Are we really ready for a dubstep Bond theme though?
Meaning of Life
What is the Meaning of Life?
A question asked many times by many great people long before you and I could comprehend. Humanity as a whole has been burdened with the gift of a higher plane of thought and intelligence naturally required to live in their world. We've become comfortable to the point where we can just sit there and ponder our own existence.
If I look it up in at dictionary.com defines life as...
Then of course there is the smart ass answer from the popular book series, Hitchhiker's Guide.
Ugh, that just reminds me that I need to catch up the Hitchiker's Guide Series, I'm only half way through The Restaurant at the end of the Universe (Book 2). Yeah yeah, don't yell at me, I'll get on it now. I had no idea there were actually 6 of these books now....
The 6th written by Eoin Colfer after the original 5 that Douglas Adams wrote. So yeah know, I've done the appropriate research. (Read the Wikipedia article).
I'll finish this post on a later date... Maybe.

Life: noun
1. - the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.
2. - the sum of the distinguishing phenomena of organisms, especially metabolism, growth, reproduction, and adaptation to environment.
3. - the animate existence or period of animate existence of an individual: to risk one's life; a short life and a merry one.
4. - a corresponding state, existence, or principle of existence conceived of as belonging to the soul: eternal life.
5. - the general or universal condition of human existence: Too bad, but life is like that.

Song of the Day: "Cherry Wine" - Nas ft. Amy Winehouse
I was never really a fan of Amy Winehouse's music, I knew the lady could sing but I dunno her soulful sad music about chemical dependency and addiction just didn't tickle my fancy.
This mix that Nas has gotten behind is smooth, just smooth. It uses this breezy beat mixed with Winehouse's sultry vocal hook. It's like a song from a totally different era, something you'd hear in a movie from yesteryear where the protagonist is listening to jukebox while smoking a cigar while playing a game of cards with a table of strangers.
Anyway, this is my song of the day.
Thought of the moment
I know I don't really update this blog as much as I should but I guess I can come here and throw some random thoughts out in the internet without any real threat of a thought out and well structured rebuttal. I can't exactly throw deep thoughts out in Facebook or Twitter all too often, people will just start act suspiciously and assume you're stealing other people's thoughts and work.
I was looking over some old footage of me on my video archives on my computer, everyone like to take stupid home videos of themselves. Sadly I pursued a career in acting before I realised I lacked the seriousness required to deliver lines meaningfully and with purpose rather than just trying to solicit laughter from the audience. They told me I was preforming rather than acting, which kinda hurt but I have come to terms with the fact that I would rather preform than act.
I would just like to ask you fine reader one question.
Have you ever watched footage of you in an a heated argument or just obscenely angry?
What did you think of that part of yourself? What did you think of this side of you that you sometimes can't control? A seemingly unnatural state see oneself in.
When I saw footage of myself, I hated that part of me... But there really isn't anything I can do about it besides keep it in check and bring it out when required.
